Street performer.  Some of these street performers - like this man here - are college
students working part-time in the streets to ear some extra cash.

You can find plant vendors pushing their carts with in most old neighborhoods
near downtown. They walk around yelling "las plantas" which means the plants.
Since most people don't have big gardens in these neighborhoods,
but a small space in front of the house, putting plants in the front porch or next to the front door -
which sometimes can be three to four feet from the sidewalk - is very common.

Neighborhood bakery

Gordita street stand.  These stands are very common in some neighborhoods.  Most of them set up in the late afternoon because most of this small stands do not have a food sales permit.  These stands can sell gorditas, hamburgers, tacos or flautas.  Gorditas can be filled with potato or ground beef and flautas can be filled with potato or shredded beef, both are deep fried! Great for a quick, low cost dinner...and heartburn at night!

Cinder block walls don't have to be boring!

Miguel Hidalgo park. Most old neighborhood parks have a monument in the middle
of the park and walkways with benches leading to that monument.

Street market next to Miguel Hidalgo park in Hidalgo neighborhood.
You can find fruits, vegetables, candies and used stuff in this market which
is usually here only on weekends.  The original market was called Mercado Sobre Ruedas,
(Market on Wheels), and traveled around the state of Chihuahua and would
end up here on weekends.  It was like a real market, with huge fruit stands,
Mexican candy stands, crafts, food stands, aguas frescas, barrels of beans, rice, candy and corn,
cotton dresses fromvarious regions of Mexico, and even
a fortune teller. Now the original market does not come but the tradition
of selling in this street still lives in this old neighborhood.

Protecting pipes from freezing in a house in Colonia Hidalgo. This year the freeze took
everybody in some states by surprise and hundreds of water pipes burst.
